Hey! I’m Miko Willie, a computer science student focusing on artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Artificial Intelligence Engineer

We need human-centered, privacy-first AI that can run on people’s own devices instead of somebody else’s server. Small enough to work at the edge but reliable enough to trust. My experience in regulated industries gives me a profound respect for privacy issues, the need to consider humans when designing AI systems, and a deep understanding of how bad the outcomes can be when a model gets important things confidently wrong.

Copywriter / Content Strategist

I’ll write just about anything. I get fascinated by everything. My writing experience is both deep and broad, from technical HVAC program development to full website content, video scripts, and even fiction. I mostly focus on tech, home services, healthcare, fire protection, and logistics. I’m a born collaborator and will not hesitate to kill my darlings. (Editing. Just editing, you psycho).

Backstory: It’ll Be A Book Someday

When everything goes sideways, I’m the one who jumps up and runs full speed into the storm instead of back towards safety. I’ve been a wildland firefighter with the US Forest Service, boat mechanic and Search and Rescue engineer in the US Coast Guard. I also ran a full-service digital marketing agency for twenty years. Currently living on land but I like boat life best.

FAQs

Tell me what you need and we’ll talk about your project. I’ll come back with a scope, a price, and a timeline, usually in a day or so. If the project’s a good fit, I take a deposit up front and the balance on delivery. You’ll get a first draft, two rounds of revisions and I welcome feedback. Bigger projects get broken into milestones so nobody’s carrying too much risk at once.

PayPal, Wise, ACH transfer, or Zelle, whatever is easiest on your end. For international clients, Wise usually has the best rates. Invoices go out through the same channel and I’ll send one before any work starts so you’ve got full documentation.

Yes. Every project includes one revision round, and I’ll fix anything that’s my error, no charge and no time limit on that. Beyond that, if you need ongoing content, updates as your services or needs change, or someone to keep an eye on how the pages or apps are performing, that’s a separate arrangement and I’m up for that, also.

I’m looking for AI and machine learning work, internships, research, applied projects, engineering roles. I came to this from twenty years of building things people actually used, in industries where getting it wrong has serious consequences: healthcare, fire protection, search and rescue, logistics. I know the cost that comes with a model quietly failing downstream. I’ve been there to pick up the pieces when bad information blows people’s lives up.
